I am shocked + sadden to announce that the renowned British fashion designer Alexander McQueen
was found dead this morning at 10:40 am in his London home after committing suicide.
McQueen was a four-time winning recipient of the "British Designer of the Year" award,
in addition to dressing A-list clients ranging from Prince Charles to Kate Winslet and Lady Gaga.
It has been speculated that McQueen's suicide was a result of the death of his mother last Tuesday.
Aristocratic British fashion editor + long time role-model to McQueen, Isabella Blow,
committed suicide around this time 3 years ago.
"His big break came in 1991, when Blow bought his entire first collection - a purchase that
she later said took two years to pay off. He became chief designer at the renowned Givenchy house in 1996,
then moved over to become creative director at Gucci five years later".
He was scheduled to unveil his fall/winter 2010 collection on March 9th, at Paris Fashion Week.
